Summary Sunday HOPE
Summary Sunday HOPE Hope is a word that implies pro-active thought and activity. Wish, on the other hand implies passive or re-active thought with little or no activity. (IMHO) We can hope for peace or wish for peace. Which will it be? We can hope for a job or wish for a job? Which will you choose? In honor of hope and the holiday season, I wanted to share posts that had a sense of hope. The inspiration for this collection of Hope posts came from Jason Albas, JibberJobber post: Dick Bolles on Options and Hope. (Thank you Jason and Dick!) Jason writes: Dick Bolles said something like (my paraphrase): When you have no options you have no HOPE. Show people their options and you can see their HOPE. 2 Reasons Were Afraid to Ask for Help from CAREEREALISM JT ODonnell states in her post: I think there are 2 reasons: 1. We think the fact needing an expert to help us means we are weak or failing in some way â" a.k.a. we feel ashamed asking for help. 2. Weâre too dang proud to admit we need help. Simplifying Personal Branding for Job Seekers by Jay Block on Personal Branding Blog This post is more than the title suggests. Jay Block states that being a job seeker requires the development of many skills, more than the typical CEO has to master. One of these skills is the concept of Personal Branding, which he defines in a couple of different ways to help make it easier to understand what it is and why it is important. Yes, this term is trite and overused, however the concept is key! 5 Top Holiday Practices For Your Business from WorkAwesome I know, you arent a business, but I HOPE you are acting like one. These tips are helpful either way! Changing the World With Entrepreneurship from Small Business Trends Hope comes sometimes when we look at the future. The inspiration to try or do new things or to see things in new ways. This post does just that! What Are You Working On from Seth Godin Short, sweet and inspiringlike so many of his posts! Frustration Friday: Remembering Our Success from Fan to Pro In his post, Steven Savage says: A concern I have is that after this economic mess, those of us who prosper may end up so focused on our own success, after going through so much pain, that well forget how others suffer. I worry that our own suffering means that, in our success, well have lost empathy for others. Make the most of this holiday season, this time of your life and this opportunity to make a difference.

Resume Coach How Do I Define My Accomplishments on My Resume - Hallie Crawford
Resume Coach How Do I Define My Accomplishments on My Resume Resume Coach, Jasmine Marchong, gives this helpful advice regarding your resume: Anyone whoâs done any research into resumes are advised over and over again to have a results-based resume. Why? Because results help define the level of your skills, whereas words are just thatâ¦words. Stating how successful you have been at a job or referencing that you completed a project does not give the reader any idea into how well you accomplished those tasks or projects and does not tell them the input or results you provided to ensure itâs successful completion. I know itâs not always that simple. In fact, for many, talking about themselves can feel awkward and âtooting your own hornâ can be even harder. But with measurable results mentioned in your resume, the employer is given a comprehensive picture about many important things about you your work ethic, your skills, how you work with others, your creative ideas, unique abilities, knowledge, and most importantly, the value you can bring to the employerâs organization. To help you write your resume and focus on results, ask yourself the following questions: Which special projects were you assigned to and why? Are you considered an expert? Or referred to by others as the âgo to personâ? And if so, in what areas? DId you implement anything for your previous or current employer that saved money or time, improved processes, provided efficiencies, or increased communication? How do you work with others? Are you part of a team and a contributing participant? What have you contributed and what was the resulting impact? Did you lead any initiatives? Or lead teams? Are you an idea generator, a problem solver, or solutions expert? Were these ideas implemented and what were the results? Have you been recognized internally or externally (eg clients, customers) for a job well done, team effort, or results of a specific project? These are just a sampling of questions and should give you an idea of how to view your experience from the âvalue addedâ perspective. It is important to think more about the value you provide and the results you delivered not that youâre just âdoing your jobâ. Remember, your are a key part of the organization and your efforts contribute to the achievement of organizational goals, so quantify those results and give your resume the punch it needs to get noticed. We hope this is helpful to you! Thank you to one of our resume experts, Jasmine Marchong, for this article and the resume tips. Schedule a free consult with HallieCrawford.com today

In fact, if youre using an antiquated email address like comcast.net or optonline.net, I urge you to create a Gmail account thats reserved for your job-search and networking activities. That said, there is something you should know about your Gmail account. Every time you send an email, whether its to a friend or a prospective employer, your profile photo is included in the message.
